The NWA is dedicated to keeping citizens prepared and safe in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm. As such here are some steps to take and tips to follow to stay safe in a hurricane or tropical storm.

Gather emergency supplies
In preparation for a hurricane or tropical storm prepare the following:

An emergency food and water supply.

An emergency supply of vital medication.

Emergency power sources such as flashlights

Safety and personal items.

Medical documents, passports, and personal identification.

A fire extinguisher.

Prepare your family and pets

Go over your emergency plan with your family.

Keep checking for updates about the storm.

Put pets in a safe place.

Call the hospital or the police about special needs ahead of time

Be ready to move efficiently

If possible unplug all appliances, turn off gas, electricity, and water
